Legendary Yankees radio voice John Sterling could come out of retirement to call New York's postseason games, sources told Andrew Marchand of The Athletic.
Sterling is reportedly expected to talk with Audacy New York, which owns WFAN, over the next few days.
The 86-year-old former broadcaster hasn't been officially asked to return to the station, according to Marchand.
"The ball is in their court," Sterling said. "They would have to ask. I would feel bad for the guys who have done the games all year."
Sterling would likely need to be able to work home and road playoff games, sources told Marchand. One of the reasons he retired in April was because travel became a burden. He's reportedly expected to resume retirement following the 2024 postseason if he does return to the radio booth.
Rickie Ricardo, Justin Shackil, and Emmanuel Berbari replaced Sterling after the latter finished his 36-year career.
