Miami Marlins outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. said he hated the first three years of his major-league career because of the way veteran players acted toward him.

"Our team captain tried to get me out of here," Chisholm told "The Pivot" podcast. "My team captain would come and tell me, 'Bro, you're the best on the team, bro. Keep on going, bro. You're gonna be great. You're gonna lead us one day.' But then the next two seconds, he's in (manager Don Mattingly's) office telling the manager something, and then the manager coming and telling me, 'Bro, this is what your team captain said.'

"Our manager doesn't play that. He didn't play that B.S. garbage. The last year that I got through all that stuff, we had a team meeting and he shut it all down."

Chisholm didn't reveal the identity of the team captain between 2020-22. However, Miguel Rojas had the title for that time period before he was dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers in January 2023.

"They're not a good captain. They're not a good person. You not even a good athlete at this point. You're just here. And you're bringing down the young guys who are supposed to be good." Chisholm added.

The 26-year-old Chisholm said a veteran-led meeting on June 2022 targeted him for how he dressed going to the ballpark and when the team travelled.

"It was nothing to do with baseball at all," Chisholm said. "That's what made it so wild to me - we're having a whole team meeting with guys who I don't even talk to off the field. ... They wanted to put me in the box. And it wasn't happening 'cause I'm not ever gonna be put in a box."

Chisholm also revealed he was also subjected to hazing by veterans, which included a pair of his custom cleats that he designed being destroyed.
