Cincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suárez and outfielder TJ Friedl have cleared waivers and are expected to be with the team Friday in Chicago, sources told The Athletic's C. Trent Rosencrans.
Other MLB teams had a 48-hour period to claim Suárez and Friedl.
Suárez is owed approximately $3 million for the rest of the season. The 35-year-old is hitting .208/.295/.410 with 19 home runs and 57 RBIs across 103 games. He crushed a grand slam Wednesday to help the Reds complete a huge comeback over the San Francisco Giants.
Suárez joined Cincinnati on a one-year, $15-million deal in February after tying a career-high 49 home runs in 2025.
Meanwhile, Friedl is owed around $700,000 this season. He's batting .158 with three homers.
The Reds rank last in the NL Central with a 63-71 record.
