Report: Mariners, Blue Jays, D-Backs, Red Sox eyeing Soler
The Jorge Soler market is heating up.
The Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Boston Red Sox are interested in the All-Star slugger, sources told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
All four teams could use a power bat in a designated hitter/outfield role. The Mariners lost Eugenio Suárez, Jarred Kelenic, and Teoscar Hernández; the Blue Jays saw Matt Chapman and Brandon Belt leave through free agency; the Red Sox said goodbye to Justin Turner and Adam Duvall; and the D-Backs are projected to start Jake McCarthy in right field.
Soler hit 36 homers with 75 RBIs and an .853 OPS over 137 games for the Miami Marlins last season. The 10-year veteran recorded an AL-best 48 round-trippers in 2019 with the Kansas City Royals.
The 31-year-old also has a terrific postseason resume, as he's gone deep six times with 11 RBIs, 14 walks, and a 1.021 OPS over 87 plate appearances. Soler was named the 2021 World Series MVP after helping the Atlanta Braves win a championship.
