The Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, had a wild fireworks malfunction after Thursday's game against the Hartford Yard Goats at CarMax Park in Virginia.

The pyrotechnics were seen shooting into the stands, causing some observers to flee.

"We're still working closely with Pyro Shows and the Richmond fire marshal's office to gather information and determine the cause of Thursday night's fireworks malfunction," the team said Friday in a statement.

"Out of an abundance of caution and to allow us the opportunity to thoroughly review operational and safety protocols, postgame firework shows will be shot offsite at The Diamond beginning tomorrow night and for the foreseeable future."
