The Houston Astros signed catcher Víctor Caratini to a two-year contract, the team announced.
Caratini's pact is worth $12 million, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
The addition gives the Astros a backup catcher behind starter Yainer Diaz after Martín Maldonado entered free agency.
Caratini slashed .259/.327/.383 with seven homers and 25 RBIs over 62 games with the Milwaukee Brewers last season. He was also in the 89th percentile for framing in 2023.
The 30-year-old has played with the Brewers, San Diego Padres, and Chicago Cubs during his seven-year career.
