Watch: Sale goes berserk in clubhouse after poor rehab start

Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale lost his cool inside of a minor-league clubhouse after being pulled following a bases-loaded walk in the fourth inning of a rehab start Wednesday.

The southpaw is going to pay for damages he caused, which includes destroying a television set that was already broken, a source told the Boston Globe's Alex Speier.

Sale described the outburst as a "7-year-old temper tantrum" and called himself "an idiot" Thursday, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.

"At least Worcester got a new TV out of it," the pitcher added.

The 33-year-old didn't seem to be bothered that his meltdown was captured on camera.

"That's their problem for videoing it. If you want me to act like a normal person, treat me like a normal person," Sale said. "This isn't a normal atmosphere. If I was at Bank of America, that wouldn't fly."

Sale, who has yet to pitch for Boston this season due to multiple health issues, allowed five walks and recorded five strikeouts during his outing with the Worcester Red Sox against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

"I'm very ready (to pitch for the Boston Red Sox). Today was a hiccup. It's nothing that can't be ironed out," he said Wednesday, according to Speier.

The seven-time All-Star added that he might want to throw multiple bullpen sessions over the next week.
