Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo poured cold water on trade rumors regarding Ketel Marte after the star second baseman wiped all references to the team from his Instagram account.
"I don't even know what scrubbing is," Lovullo said Monday, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. "I don't get it. I mean, I'm a baseball manager. I've connected with Ketel just to find out."
The skipper added: "Everything is in a good spot. I know that everybody wants to make some drama that's taking place here. It's nothing like it seems."
Lovullo also said he believes Marte has shown his commitment to the club throughout the season.
"Ketel has probably been as emotionally invested to this ball club, connected to his art and his craft, and has been very dedicated to being the best version that I've seen him as a Diamondback," Lovullo said.
Marte's hit a team-leading 19 homers with 61 RBIs and a .764 OPS over 101 games, as Arizona enters Monday's action in the NL's final wild-card spot.
"He's having a tremendous year," Lovullo said. "He's playing every day, and he's a really good baseball player. ... I just know that he is a great baseball player. He's going to help us win a lot of baseball games."
The D-Backs engaged in Marte trade talks with other teams during the offseason, but a deal never materialized.
Reports have surfaced over the last few years that the 2024 NL MVP finalist has caused angst within the organization by taking days off.
