Giants' Belt dealing with broken thumb
San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt has a fracture in his left thumb, the team announced Monday, according to Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.
Belt, an integral piece of the NL West-leading Giants, will meet with doctors this week to determine how long he'll be out.
There will be more on Brandon Belt tomorrow from the Giants, but from what I understand, there's a pretty big range in his recovery estimates and postseason play isn't out of the question. He'll go on the IL for the remainder of the season, obviously.

The 33-year-old was hit in the thumb by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. He left the contest shortly after suffering the injury.
Belt owns a .274/.378/.597 slash line with a career-high 29 home runs over 97 games for San Francisco this season.
