Two-time All-Star Kelvin Herrera is retiring from baseball, he announced Friday.
"It's a bittersweet moment for me, but after 10 MLB seasons, 2 World Series, 2 All-Star Games, and 1 World Baseball Classic, I am happy to call it a career and focus on my family and the next chapter of my life," Herrera wrote in a statement.
The Dominican right-hander had the best years of his career with the Kansas City Royals, authoring a 2.75 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 57 saves in 138 appearances.
Herrera was an integral part of Kansas City's bullpen during back-to-back World Series appearances in 2014 and 2015.
The 31-year-old also spent one half of a season with the Washington Nationals and played the final two years of his career with the Chicago White Sox.
