The New York Yankees' lineup will get a boost on Saturday as the team reinstated infielder DJ LeMahieu from the 10-day injured list, the club announced.
LeMahieu will hit leadoff and play third base for the Yankees against the New York Mets after missing two weeks with a left thumb sprain.
The 32-year-old was playing well for the Bronx Bombers before the injury, authoring a .411/.456/.534 slash line with 30 hits, two home runs, and eight RBIs in 19 games.
The Yankees have been riddled by injuries lately and have lost seven straight games. Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Gleyber Torres, James Paxton, and Zack Britton are all on the IL.
Utility player Miguel Andujar was optioned to make room for LeMahieu on the big-league roster.
