The Cincinnati Reds have entered the J.T. Realmuto sweepstakes and are discussing the All-Star catcher with the Miami Marlins, sources told Craig Mish of SiriusXM.

A Marlins-Reds deal for Realmuto would include outfielder Taylor Trammell - the Reds' No. 2 prospect as ranked by MLB Pipeline - going back to Miami, according to Mish. The Marlins would also get a catcher in the deal, with the Reds' former Gold Glove backstop Tucker Barnhart considered a possibility, Mish reports.

However, the Reds are apparently refusing to offer No. 1 prospect Nick Senzel in a deal with Miami, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports.

Cincinnati just completed its fourth straight 90-loss season, and the team is apparently looking to make a splash in order to exit the NL Central basement. Realmuto is just the latest star who's been tied to Cincinnati this winter; the Reds are said to be interested in Dallas Keuchel and A.J. Pollock, while also reportedly talking trades with Cleveland about Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer, and the Dodgers about Yasiel Puig.

Realmuto, who has two years of team control remaining, stated he won't sign an extension with the Marlins and has become a hot trade target this offseason. The Marlins have been eyeing a large return for the Silver Slugger, but have reportedly lowered their asking price "somewhat" in recent days.

Cincinnati's biggest competition for Realmuto appears to be the New York Mets, who are said to be "very aggressive" in their pursuit of him. The Atlanta Braves were linked to Realmuto earlier this winter and are apparently still engaged in talks with the Marlins; Mish reports they may be willing to trade top prospect Austin Riley for him.

Other teams that have reportedly talked to the Marlins about Realmuto include the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres.

The 27-year-old Realmuto is coming off the best season of his career, posting a .277/.340/.484 slash line (131 OPS+) with 21 homers, 30 doubles, and 74 RBIs for Miami.
