Report: Puig on table in Dodgers, Reds trade talks
The Los Angeles Dodgers are apparently looking to shake things up, and Yasiel Puig is being discussed in trade talks.
The Dodgers have reportedly discussed multiple trade packages with the Cincinnati Reds, and Puig is one name being bandied about, along with other outfielders and pitchers. Los Angeles wants to clear payroll to pursue other interests, sources tell Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Puig's time with the Dodgers has grown tenuous in recent weeks, as it was revealed that he's become disgruntled about his playing time in 2018. He barely played against left-handed pitchers and struggled when he did face lefties, batting .209/.268/.360 against southpaws compared to .297/.357/.564 against righties.
This isn't the first time since the World Series that Puig has surfaced in trade rumors. In late November, he was reportedly one of the names discussed in a potential deal with the Cleveland Indians that would have sent Corey Kluber to the Dodgers, but nothing has materialized on that front.
The 28-year-old is entering his final year of arbitration, and will be eligible for free agency after the 2019 season.
