Eddie Vedder, the Pearl Jam frontman and one of the Chicago Cubs' biggest celebrity fans, is making sure his fellow North Side supporters get a jump on his latest recording.
Vedder's new 7-inch vinyl single will be exclusively released to all fans who purchase a ticket to the Cubs' July 6 home game against the Cincinnati Reds, according to Billboard's Heran Mamo. Each ticket for that game will entitle fans to one copy of the record.
The single, being produced by Jack White's Third Man Records, will feature Vedder's original composition "All The Way," a song he wrote about the Cubs in 2007. He originally released the song via digital download in 2008, and has since performed it live many times - occasionally with the Cubs themselves joining in on backing vocals.
The record's flip side will feature a cover of Steve Goodman's "Go, Cubs, Go."
The 53-year-old Vedder, a native of nearby Evanston, Ill., has a long association with the Cubs, from performing multiple Pearl Jam concerts at Wrigley to partying with the team during its historic 2016 run to a curse-breaking World Series championship.
In addition to the new Vedder single promotion, the Cubs' promotional schedule notes that the July 6 game will also feature an Anthony Rizzo hat giveaway.
