Ohtani lights up radar gun, throws fastest pitch of 2018 by starter

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Shohei Ohtani threw the fastest pitch of the season by a starting pitcher Wednesday night, breaking his own record.
Ohtani threw a 101.1-mph fastball in the fifth inning, inducing a groundout from Detroit Tigers third baseman Jeimer Candelario.

Ohtani has now recorded the five fastest pitches thrown by a starter this season, each registering at over 100 mph.
St. Louis Cardinals rookie reliever Jordan Hicks threw the fastest pitch of the season earlier this month, clocking in at 105.1 mph.
