Repercussions from Tuesday's seven-player deal with the Chicago White Sox were felt by the New York Yankees' roster Wednesday, as the club announced it has designated utility man Rob Refsnyder for assignment.
Refsnyder was the Yankees' fourth-best prospect as recently as 2015.
Drafted in the fifth round in 2012, Refsnyder never seemed to fulfill his potential with the Yankees since making his big-league debut.
Though the 26-year-old has been a flexible fit defensively for New York in his three-year career - the only positions he hadn't played are pitcher, catcher, shortstop, and center field - he failed to make an equal impression with his bat, slashing just .241/.312/.332 in 232 big-league at-bats.
Along with Refsnyder, the Yankees also designated first baseman Ji-Man Choi for assignment, while reliever Chasen Shreve was optioned to Triple-A.
