Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique and will be placed on the injured list, the team announced Sunday.
Altuve left Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers after grounding into a double play.
The veteran infielder didn't attempt to run to first base and instead walked toward the dugout grabbing his side before entering the clubhouse.

The Astros didn't provide a timetable for his return.
Altuve's ailment is the latest among a slew of injuries that the Astros have endured this season. Fourteen other players are on Houston's injured list, including infielders Jeremy Peña and Carlos Correa as well as staff ace Hunter Brown and closer Josh Hader.
Altuve, the 2017 AL MVP, is hitting .245/.326/.380 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 42 games.
