Watch: Encarnacion's clutch 1st home run helps lead Indians to victory
When the Cleveland Indians signed first baseman Edwin Encarnacion to a three-year contract in January, it was with the idea that he would hit a lot of baseballs a very long way. He wasted little time.
His home run off Texas Rangers reliever Matt Bush, a solo shot, tied the game 5-5 in the eighth. No stranger to the Rangers from his time with the Toronto Blue Jays, Encarnacion has hit six home runs in his last 11 games - including the postseason - against Texas.
The Indians eventually rallied for three more runs off reliever Sam Dyson in the top of the ninth for a 8-5 victory, completing the comeback. The Rangers had jumped out to an early 5-1 lead only to squander it all late in the game.
Only Nelson Cruz (127) has more home runs than Encarnacion (116) since the beginning of 2014.
