It's becoming virtually impossible to stop Mike Trout from doing what he wants on the baseball diamond. Jose Bautista found this out the hard way Sunday.
The Los Angeles Angels superstar showed off his ace sliding skills to evade a pair of Bautista throws in the fifth inning. First, Trout lined a double to right field off Toronto Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman, before beating Bautista's throw to second base with a heads-up slide on the inside of the base path.
Trout was only getting started, though.
When Albert Pujols singled to right one batter later, Trout was on his horse trying to score on the play. Bautista looked to have gunned him down by several feet, but Trout executed a ridiculous one-armed version of the "swim slide" by quickly lifting his arm over Dioner Navarro's attempted tag and sliding his fingers across home plate.
Trout's base-running exploits proved to be all the Angels needed on this day, as his run opened the scoring in a 4-0 Halos victory.
