It may just be the calm before the storm for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Starting pitcher Matt Moore and utility man Steve Pearce are both growing increasingly likely to be dealt within the next 72 hours, sources told Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan.
A former All-Star in 2013, Moore has struggled at times to find his rhythm in 2016, posting a 4.08 ERA and allowing 20 home runs in 21 starts this season. Earlier reports in July linked the Texas Rangers with a possible move for the Rays' left-hander, who's under affordable team control until the end of 2019, earning just $26 million combined after 2016.
Pearce was signed by Tampa Bay in the offseason as a free agent after spending three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. Slashing .312/.384/.528 in 58 games with the Rays, Pearce's defensive versatility is also an asset for any interested teams as the utility man has split time at first, second, and third base this season.
