Lyon has bolstered its backline ahead of the 2016-17 Ligue 1 campaign, signing Polish defender Maciej Rybus to a three-year deal after his contract expired at Russian side FC Terek Grozny.

The 26-year-old full-back joins as Les Gones' first significant summer signing after five seasons with the Chechens, the club announced Tuesday.

The 41-time Polish international was introduced to the media after passing a medical.

"I came here because it's a great team with a great history," Rybus said. "It is an honor to sign for OL. I am very happy to be here and to play with good players."

Able to ply his trade both at left-back and on the wing, Lyon manager Bruno Genesio may be pleased to hear a confident Rybus praising his own virtues.

"I want to show my game to earn my place in the field and play as much as possible," Rybus said. "My qualities are speed, endurance, and good technique to play with my left foot."

Rybus will act as a direct replacement for Henri Bedimo, who confirmed his Lyon exit earlier in June after four seasons with the seven-time top-flight winners.
