The legendary Schumacher name will return to the Formula 1 grid in 2021.

Mick Schumacher has signed a multi-year deal to race for Haas, beginning next season.

The 21-year-old son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is the current points leader in Formula 2 with one round remaining.

"I'm very pleased that we're able to confirm Mick Schumacher in our driver lineup for next season, and I look forward to welcoming him into the team," Haas team principal Guenther Steiner said, according to Formula 1.

"The Formula 2 Championship has long served as a proving ground for talent to showcase their credentials, and this year's field has undoubtedly been one of the most competitive in recent seasons," Steiner added. "Mick has won races, collected podiums, and excelled against some pretty exceptional talent in 2020."

Schumacher joins fellow Formula 2 racer Nikita Mazepin in a new-look lineup for Haas next season, as they'll replace Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.

Haas has only managed three points during the 2020 campaign so far and sits ninth in the constructor standings with Grosjean and Magnussen as its drivers.
