Manchester United has reportedly issued a fine to the tune of £360,000 to Argentine winger Angel Di Maria for failing to show up for the club's preseason tour of the United States.
Di Maria was given an extended holiday after playing in the 2015 Copa America, but was expected to return to the club last Saturday. Earlier this week, club manager Louis van Gaal admitted he had no idea where Di Maria was, asking reporters, "Maybe you know? I don't know that either."
He stayed in Argentina after the 2015 Copa America, awaiting a decision on his future, ahead of his reported £45-million move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The fine caps off a torrid spell at Old Trafford for Di Maria, who joined the team for a club record £59-million transfer. In his first season with Manchester United, Di Maria failed to make much of an impact and was replaced in the starting XI by Ashley Young.
Life hasn't been too great off the field, either, as his wife supposedly left the country after his house in Cheshire was burgled.
Di Maria's move to PSG is expected to be announced this weekend.
