Fresh off a stellar performance at Euro 2016 for host France, Moussa Sissoko's departure from Newcastle will have to be a lucrative one if the Magpies demands are met.

With Sissoko's stock rising as relegated Newcastle heads in the opposite direction, reports suggest a potential transfer for the 26-year-old midfielder will require a bid of no less than £35 million, according to Sky Sports.

As is often the case in major tournaments, Sissoko's unexpected spell with runner-up France boosted his value, prompting Newcastle's heightened valuation of the former Toulouse standout.

A move seems imminent, especially with quotes from Sissoko expressing an interest to leave the club he joined for an undisclosed fee in 2013.

"I gave everything there for three-and-a-half years. I hope that they will be smart enough to understand that, to continue my development, I need to keep playing at the highest level," Sissoko admitted.

Understandably, Sissoko has no interest in dropping down a tier after Newcastle's poor 19th-placed finish. "As I want to stay in the France team I could not stay in the Championship. There will be discussions. I hope they will go in my opinion. I want to leave."

With Rafa Benitez desperate to keep hold of his marquee players, Sissoko has his eye on a future in the Premier League. An exodus of sorts has taken place at St. James' Park, with regulars Andros Townsend and Papiss Cisse both securing contracts with other clubs during the summer, and defenders Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor have both been released by the club.

"I want to continue my career in England, at a club that plays in the Champions League because I think this best fits my style of play."
