Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho would be open to future Arsenal move
Sporting Lisbon powerhouse William Carvalho is focused on completing a job with his current club, but would like to try his hand in the Premier League in the future.
The Portuguese star has tempted the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United with his much-publicised €45-million release clause, but it is a certain club in north London that tweaks his interest.
"I prefer not to say too much, but there is a club with which I've always been fond of: Arsenal. Because of Thierry Henry, a player with whom I have always enjoyed watching.
"Maybe this is why I look with so much affection to the Premier League."
The defensive midfielder was named the best player at the 2015 UEFA Under-21 Championship. Though, Carvalho's physical attributes seem well-suited for the English game and a potential switch to the EPL may be a direct result of his hard work.
"I am where I want to be right now, which is Sporting, but if I ever do leave then it's a sign that my work here was well done," he told Portuguese newspaper A Bola via ESPN FC. "I dream of winning the Primeira Liga here."
With goalkeeper Petr Cech the only signing for Arsene Wenger's side over the summer, 23-year-old Carvalho could be just the man to quieten Gunners' fans perturbed with a lack of transfer activity.
