Tiger Woods is working his way back from the worst major finish of his career at the British Open (69th). He'll be playing in the WGC Bridgestone Invitational, as well as the PGA Championship, and has committed to a longtime friend's charity tournament.

Notah Begay III holds a golf tournament every year at the end of August, called the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge. The tournament benefits Native American causes and will be held at Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y., for the seventh year.

"I said, 'Hey, we'd love to have you,' and [Woods] said, 'No problem, I'll be there,'" Begay told Syracuse.com.

"He's probably the easiest one," he added. "It's just because we've been friends for 30 years and he's a big supporter of what we're doing in our philanthropy."

Woods missed the tournament last year due to his back injury, which he had surgery for in March.

It's not going to be an easy transition back onto the leaderboard for Woods, as Begay noted.

"In talking to him briefly, he seems to be physically good. This week, hopefully we'll see some improvements and by the PGA [Championship] possibly he'll be able to make a run."
