The fourth and final major of the year will begin Thursday at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., and is poised to be an exciting tournament with Ryder and FedEx Cup spots on the line.
Jason Dufner is the defending champion and will be in the field despite bulging discs in his neck.

Here are three players to watch at Valhalla:
Matt Kuchar

There hasn't been a player on tour more consistent than Georgia's Matt Kuchar. He's made 107 of 115 cuts and carded 47 top-10 finishes over the last five years.
Since winning the RBC Heritage in April, Kuchar's finished tied for seventh at the HP Byron Nelson Championship, tied for ninth at the CVS Caremark Charity Classic, and tied for fourth at the RBC Canadian Open.
His 11-under 269 at the Canadian Open in late July was his best score this season, and he'll likely be a threat this weekend, thanks to his 69.34 scoring average in 75 rounds, ranked fourth on tour.

Jim Furyk
Something has to give, right?
The 44-year-old played extremely well at the British Open, finishing tied for fourth, and transferred his solid play over to the Canadian Open. He led the field for two rounds before South Africa's Tim Clark jumped him on the back nine Sunday, carding a 30.
There's not much Furyk can do about that, but his scoring average of 69.46 this season - ranked sixth - is something you can't take away form the veteran.
Furyk has three runner-up finishes this season, and seven in the top 10.
Graham DeLaet

DeLaet took his game to another level at the Canadian Open, posting the lowest score (10-under 270) among Canadians in the field, finishing tied for seventh. He ranks third on tour in greens in regulation at 70.94 percent, and 15th in driving distance at 302.4 yards.
His weekend at Royal Montreal saw him have a shot to win the tournament, which gave him some added confidence. That's something his game lacked before heading to Montreal.
Like Furyk, it's only a matter of time until DeLaet has four rounds go his way. He has seven top-10 finishes - and two runner-ups - on the season.
