The PGA Tour isn't expected to address the potential return of LIV Golf players until January at the earliest, reports The Athletic's Gabby Herzig.

The PGA Tour is waiting for LIV's bankruptcy proceedings to conclude before announcing any decisions. The Tour aims to prioritize its long-term health over the "sugar high" of an immediate financial gain from bringing back former stars, a source told Herzing.

LIV Golf is liquidating its assets after a new investor group scrapped plans to revamp the league because of a lack of player support. LIV needed new financial backing after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) pulled funding earlier this year.

Early in the 2026 season, the Tour offered select LIV players a one-time path to returning with severe financial penalties attached. Brooks Koepka was the only golfer to accept the deal, while Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith chose to honor their LIV contracts.

Rahm recently said he would accept penalties to return to the PGA Tour, where he won 11 times before leaving for LIV in 2023. The two-time major winner is likely to play the upcoming campaign on the DP World Tour.
