With uncertainty still surrounding the rest of the current PGA Tour season, the Safeway Open announced new dates Wednesday and confirmed it will be the first event on the 2020-21 schedule.
The event in Napa Valley, California, will be held from Sept. 10-13 at Silverado Resort, two weeks earlier than when it was played in 2019. A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier was the first event on the 2019-20 schedule.
The PGA Tour announced revised dates to three major championships and the FedEx Cup Playoffs last week. The Tour Championship is set to end Sept. 7 and the U.S. Open is slated to be held at Winged Foot from Sept. 17-20. The Safeway Open now slots between these two premier Tour stops.
Safeway Open organizers added that the announcement of the new dates is "part of the updates to the new PGA Tour schedule released today."
