Wild's Scandella deflects Iginla's shot into own cheek

Bruce Fedyck / USA TODAY Sports

Marco Scandella is one tough hombre.

The Minnesota Wild defenseman was struck in the side of the face with a shot that rode up the shaft of his own stick off the release of Colorado Avalanche sniper Jarome Iginla.

It looked quite serious at first, but Scandella quickly scampered to his feet, and appeared to motioned to the Wild training staff that he was going to be okay as he headed down the tunnel.

He returned for the overtime period.
