The Dallas Stars placed forward Matt Duchene on long-term injured reserve retroactive to Sept. 29, the team announced Thursday.
Duchene is required to miss at least 10 games. The earliest he could return is Oct. 25.
The 35-year-old battled a lower-body injury throughout training camp.
"He's back kind of in a little bit of a maintenance program here," head coach Glen Gulutzan said Wednesday, per NHL.com. "He skated this morning before practice, and so we're just monitoring now to see where he's going to be at. A little bit of a setback."
Duchene notched 16 goals and 45 points in 57 games last season.
