DeKeyser is expected to miss between three and four weeks, so it's not a huge surprise that he was placed on IR. It's unclear what the Red Wings plan to do with their defensive pairings at this point, but Brendan Smith appears one candidate to pair with the newly-acquired Mike Green to begin the season.
