The New York Islanders named forward Bo Horvat the 16th captain in franchise history, the team announced Monday.
Horvat succeeds Anders Lee, who signed with the Utah Mammoth as a free agent this offseason.

He previously wore the "C" for parts of four seasons with the Vancouver Canucks.
Horvat is entering his fifth season with the Islanders since being acquired from the Canucks at the 2023 trade deadline and still has five years left on his contract. He led the Islanders with 31 goals while adding 26 assists in 68 games last season.
The 31-year-old helped Canada win a silver medal at the 2026 Olympics, tallying two goals in six appearances. He played under Team Canada assistant coach Pete DeBoer in Milan, who the Islanders later hired as head coach.
DeBoer said in July that phenom 19-year-old defenseman Matthew Schaefer has "future captain written all over him." However, DeBoer cautioned against putting "too much on his plate too early."
