The Detroit Red Wings stripped Dylan Larkin of his captaincy, the team announced Friday.
Larkin will report to training camp and plans to further discuss his future in Detroit once the Red Wings name a general manager, he said in a statement. Detroit will enter the season without a captain.

Larkin, who requested a trade in June, has played his entire 11-year career with the Red Wings. He captained them for six campaigns.
Detroit has missed the playoffs in 10 straight seasons, the longest active drought in the NHL.
The Red Wings announced an unexpected leadership change in July, moving Steve Yzerman to an adviser role after seven seasons as GM. Detroit has yet to name his replacement.
Larkin tallied 34 goals and 67 points in 74 games last season. He won Olympic gold in February with Team USA.
The 30-year-old is under contract through 2030-31 at an $8.7-million cap hit, and he owns a full no-trade clause. Larkin reportedly listed the Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights as acceptable destinations in July.
