Patrick Kane's junior team will no longer name training-camp squad after him

Patrick Kane's former junior team is dissociating itself from the Chicago Blackhawks star amid an ongoing police investigation.

In recent years, the OHL's London Knights have split the 80 camp attendees into four teams named after players who have moved on and achieved success at the NHL level, namely Corey Perry, Rick Nash, David Bolland, and Kane.

When camp begins next week, however, the fourth team will have a new name as authorities continue to investigate a sexual assault allegation levied against the 26-year-old earlier this summer.

"We're going to change the name and there will not be a Team Kane at training camp," Knights general manager Basil McRae confirmed to Ryan Pyette of the London Free Press.

The forward spent one season with the Knights, leading the OHL in scoring with 62 goals and 145 points in 58 games en route to being named the Canadian Hockey League rookie of the year and being selected first overall by the Blackhawks at the 2007 NHL Draft.

Kane, who has met with investigators, was already dropped from the cover of NHL '16 and celebrated his team's latest Stanley Cup in private as a result of the investigation.
