They've experienced gold as individuals and hoisted silver together three times over, but it's bronze that Chicago Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz sees in the futures of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
Wirtz suggested that Toews and Kane could join the likes of Michael Jordan, Stan Mikita, and Bobby Hull, and have statues erected in their honor outside the United Center.
"In the long run, we'll see if we get a couple of more statues,” Wirtz told the Chicago Tribune editorial board, according to NHL.com.
"I think that they're quality individuals. They're never satisfied. They're great leaders, and I think they're terrific for the city. As the eight-year contracts go on, I think we'll see they're worth every penny."
Matching Jordan's six championships is a near-impossible task, but Toews and Kane have already bettered the previous Blackhawks duo, who won the Stanley Cup just once.
