Stalwart Anaheim Ducks blue-liner Francois Beauchemin can't catch a break this season.

The veteran shutdown defender had just returned to action from a lengthy bout with the mumps when, on Monday night against the Calgary Flames, he left the game with an apparent hand injury after blocking a shot. He didn't return for the third period and the team has him officially listed as battling an upper-body injury.

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau was unable to provide an update on Beauchemin's status after Monday night's game, but suggested that the club would know more in a couple of days.

Beauchemin, 34, has appeared in 18 games this season and has contributed five assists while logging first pairing minutes at even strength.
