Vancouver Canucks chairman Francesco Aquilini says he explored purchasing the NFL's Buffalo Bills.
Aquilini confirmed his interest in a statement to the Buffalo News, adding that he has now withdrawn from the process:
I'm always exploring potential business opportunities, and I'm passionate about sports. So this is something that interested me. However, we are not planning to pursue the opportunity further.
The Aquilini family reportedly signed the nondisclosure agreement for access to the Bills' financial data.
Toronto Raptors founder John Bitove was another previously unreported ownership candidate to sign the agreement, per the publication.
About 60 nondisclosure agreements were reportedly distributed but only 16 to 20 were signed and returned.
Aquilini, 53, has been the majority owner of the Canucks since 2006.
The Bills are in need of a new owner after founder and former owner Ralph Wilson died in March.
