Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning named Doug Lidster to Willie Desjardins' coaching staff Monday according to the team's official website.
The 52-year-old joins the Canucks from the Texas Stars where he helped lead Desjardins' team to the 2014 Calder Cup Championship. He served as an assistant coach with Texas since 2012. Lidster also brings a wealth of junior and international coaching experience to the table.
Lidster was drafted 133rd overall by the Canucks in 1980, and went on to play sixteen seasons for the Canucks, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars.
