Penguins hire GM Rutherford: Owners Lemieux and Burkle release joint statement
Co-owners of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle, released a joint statement Friday afternoon after the announcement the team hired general manager Jim Rutherford.
Jim has proven himself to be one of the finest executives in our sport, a man who always conducts himself with class and dignity, and we’re excited to bring him to Pittsburgh as our general manager. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that few can match, and he will offer fresh ideas and a new perspective to our organization
Rutherford previously served as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes organization for 20 years and stepped down on April 28th. To read more about his hiring, read below.
