It's safe to say the hostile reception that Brady Tkachuk faced in his return to Ottawa in October caught the attention of his father, Keith.
"Yeah, it was interesting," Keith Tkachuk told The Athletic's Chris Johnston on Saturday. "Hey, I don't have any animosity toward anything. It just happens. It's still your son. I wish (the Panthers) played better. I was a little more upset at how disappointing they played, and Ottawa played well. They voiced their opinion.
"Brady's moved on. We've moved on. It's time Ottawa moves on."
The younger Tkachuk requested a trade from the Senators this past offseason after previously affirming his commitment to Ottawa on numerous occasions. He ultimately used his no-trade clause to orchestrate a move to the Florida Panthers and team up with his brother, Matthew.
"Players have a bigger say than they had before and I respect that," Keith Tkachuk said. "Players have the right. Teams have the right to trade you - I've seen it, I've witnessed it. There's a fine line. Is it ideal? Probably not."
Late last season, Keith Tkachuk stirred up controversy on his sons' "Wingmen" podcast by commenting on the Senators' injuries and Brady's contract situation.
Keith Tkachuk is being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame this weekend as part of the class of 2026. He registered 538 goals and 527 assists over an 18-year NHL career.
