The Chicago Blackhawks are scouring the trade market to find help amid an awful start to the 2026-27 season, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
Chicago entered Saturday's contest against the Carolina Hurricanes 4-12-1 and have finished three consecutive seasons 31st in the league standings.
The Blackhawks own three first-round picks this year, all of which are in play as the club seeks improvement, Friedman notes. Chicago also has four second-round selections over the next two drafts to potentially move.
Teams in contact with the Blackhawks have inquired about their prospects and players who can play center, per Friedman.
Chicago was expected to take a step forward this season with a promising young core and offseason additions of Bowen Byram and Patrick Kane, but success hasn't materialized.
The Blackhawks are currently in a six-year playoff drought.
