The Detroit Red Wings took Game 1 in their series against the Boston Bruins, as the last of the NHL's playoff series to debut finally played their first game.

The game would remain scoreless through two periods with solid play in net from both Jimmy Howard and Tuukka Rask. The Red Wings dominated the second period buzzing in the Bruins zone, but could not get anything past Rask.

Both teams struggled on the power play, finishing a combined 0-for-3 on the night.

But, at the end of the night, the difference was a goal by Pavel Datsyuk to win it for Detroit with three minutes remaining in the third period after a flurry of shots on both sides.

Note: how far Datsyuk had to reach back to corral the puck before taking off and blowing by Patrice Bergeron.

With all the shots that were blocked and sent wide, Rask and Howard stopped under 30 shots each as the Wings took the 1-0 series lead.
