The Colorado Avalanche completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday with a convincing 5-1 victory in Game 4.
Nathan MacKinnon delivered his best showing of the postseason, registering two goals and an assist. Cale Makar, Devon Toews, and Nic Roy also scored for the Avs. Gabriel Landeskog contributed a pair of assists.
Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood stayed hot with 24 saves, bringing his postseason save percentage to a sparkling .950. He allowed just five goals all series.
Colorado will play the winner of the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild in Round 2. That series is tied 2-2.
The loss for L.A. marks the end of Anze Kopitar's illustrious 20-year NHL career. The 38-year-old announced in September that this would be his final season.
The Kings have now lost five straight Round 1 series. They haven't advanced past the opening round of the playoffs since winning the Stanley Cup in 2014.
