Report: Canucks, Red Wings discussing Myers trade
The Vancouver Canucks have a trade offer on the table from the Detroit Red Wings for defenseman Tyler Myers, reports TSN's Chris Johnston.
However, Myers has reportedly not yet signed off on the deal, as his contract contains a no-movement clause.
The Dallas Stars are also interested in Myers, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. Myers was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in Calgary, Alberta.
The Canucks made Myers a healthy scratch on Wednesday for "roster management purposes."
The 36-year-old is signed through next season with a $3-million cap hit. His no-movement clause becomes a 12-team no-trade list on July 1.
Myers has recorded eight points in 57 games with the Canucks this campaign while averaging 20:13 per contest - the fourth-most among the team's defensemen. Although he has struggled at five-on-five over the last few seasons, he excels on the penalty kill.
Myers stands at 6-foot-8 and shoots right. The Red Wings and Stars could both use reinforcements on the right side of their blue lines.
