The Ottawa Senators traded veteran winger David Perron to the Detroit Red Wings for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2026, the teams announced Thursday.

Perron has been out since January with a groin injury. If he plays a game with Detroit before the end of the regular season, the Red Wings will send the Senators the Columbus Blue Jackets' fourth-round pick.

Alternatively, if the Red Wings advance to Round 2 of the playoffs and Perron plays in 50% of the Round 1 games, Detroit will instead give Ottawa its own third-round selection.

Perron, who carries a $4-million cap hit, will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

He's notched 10 goals and 15 assists in 49 games with the Senators this season while averaging 13:26 per contest.

Before joining Ottawa in 2024, the 37-year-old spent two campaigns with the Red Wings, producing 33 goals and 76 points across 116 appearances.

Perron won a Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues in 2019 and has accumulated 110 games of playoff experience over his 19-year NHL career.

The Senators acquired Warren Foegele from the Los Angeles Kings earlier Thursday.
