The Seattle Kraken are trading forward Mason Marchment to the Columbus Blue Jackets, the team announced Friday.

Seattle will reportedly receive a 2027 second-round pick and a 2026 fourth-round selection as part of the deal.

"Mason is a player I know very well, and I think he will add a great deal to our team," Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell said. "He is a physical, hard-nosed competitor with proven offensive ability, and we are very excited to have him join the Blue Jackets."

The move takes place roughly six months after the Kraken acquired Marchment from the Dallas Stars for a fourth- and third-round pick. He originally signed a four-year, $18-million contract with the Stars in 2022.

Marchment's contract is worth $4.5 million for 2025-26. None of it will be retained in the deal sending him from Seattle to Columbus, according to The Athletic's Chris Johnston. The Winnipeg Jets were also linked to the 30-year-old earlier this week.

Marchment recorded two 20-goal seasons with Dallas, but he scored four goals across 29 appearances this season with the Kraken. He's also posted nine assists in 2025-26.

The Blue Jackets will face the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, but it's unclear if the newly acquired Marchment will be in the lineup.
