Mammoth sign Cooley to 8-year, $80M extension
The Utah Mammoth signed forward Logan Cooley to an eight-year contract extension carrying an average annual value of $10 million, the team announced Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to sign Logan and have him with us in Utah for the next eight years," general manager Bill Armstrong said. "Logan is not only an incredible player but an even better person, and we look forward to watching him grow. He, along with the rest of our core group, will have an impact in Utah for many years to come. It's a great day for Mammoth fans and another exciting moment for our organization."
Cooley, the third overall pick by the Arizona Coyotes in 2022, is off to a terrific start this season with 12 points in 11 games. He notched a career-high 65 points in 2024-25.
He reportedly rejected a $76.8-million contract offer from Utah before the campaign started.
The 21-year-old was scheduled to be a restricted free agent at season's end. His new deal will make him Utah's highest-paid player when it kicks in, usurping Mikhail Sergachev's $8.5-million cap hit.
The Mammoth have built one of the most dangerous forward groups in the NHL. Cooley, Dylan Guenther, Clayton Keller, and JJ Peterka are all under contract through at least 2028.
Utah has used its star-studded attack to race to an 8-3-0 start, good for the top spot in the Central Division.
