Report: Cooley turned down $76.8M offer from Mammoth
Utah Mammoth center Logan Cooley rejected an eight-year extension offer worth an average annual value of $9.6 million, reports NHL insider Frank Seravalli.
The deal would've made Cooley the Mammoth's highest-paid player for next season and the 19th highest-paid player in the league. Defenseman Mikhail Sergachev carries the highest AAV on Utah at $8.5 million.
Cooley is coming off a stellar sophomore campaign in which he tallied 65 points in 75 games. He finished fifth in Calder Trophy voting with 44 points in 82 contests during his rookie season in 2023-24.
The 21-year-old is entering the final year of his entry-level contract. He projects to begin the season centering Utah's top line between Dylan Guenther and JJ Peterka.
The Arizona Coyotes selected Cooley with the No. 3 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
