Report: Blues want to trade Saad
The St. Louis Blues want to trade forward Brandon Saad, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on "Saturday Headlines."
Saad was a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars. He's signed through 2025-26 at a $4.5-million cap hit.
The 32-year-old has a full no-trade clause this season, but he's willing to consider other options, Friedman reports.
Saad has four goals and 10 points in 27 games and is tied for ninth among Blues skaters in scoring. He tallied 26 goals and 42 points last season.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion has been traded three times in his NHL career. Most notably, the Columbus Blue Jackets traded Saad back to his first club, the Chicago Blackhawks, for Artemi Panarin in 2017.
Saad has 257 goals and 509 points in 890 career games. He's played for the Blues since 2021.
The Blues acquired veteran defenseman Cam Fowler on Saturday. The 33-year-old counts for $4 million against St. Louis' salary cap.
The NHL roster freeze is Dec. 20-27.
